3 ways to stop food waste at my home
Sadly, across the world, about one-third of all food produced for people gets wasted. There are almost one billion people who do not have enough food to survive and also food waste adds a problem to global warming. But of course, there are some ways that I can reduce food waste and the easiest way is to stop food waste at my home.
The first way is I should write a shopping list for just the extras I need, plan meals for a week, and shop smart. Before I go to a supermarket to buy something, I should check the ingredients in my fridge. Because it is one of a way of food waste if I buy something twice and throw the old one away. Another thing is I should not shop when I am hungry. Because since I am hungry, I would like to buy everything in the market and I come back home with more than I need. When I buy more than I need, first I spend my money for nothing and second I waste more food. So it is better if I buy fruits and vegetables instead of pre-packed so I can buy exactly the amount I need and with this tip, I can save some cash.
The second way is if we cannot finish the small amount of our food, we can put it into the freezer. When we are tired, we can take the frozen food out and we can eat it after a couple of hours. So we do not throw away the food which we did not eat before.
The third way is we can use FIFO method. It means 'First In, First Out'. When unpacking foods, move older products to the front of the fridge or freezer and put new foods in the back. This way helps us to use older products before they expire.
I just mentioned about three very easy and important ways, which make a shopping list, put the surplus food into the freezer and use FIFO method, to stop food waste at my home. You can start doing something to stop food waste right now. Because if we do not start doing something about food waste, not only poor people will die, all the universe will not have enough food to survive.
