Food Waste
Food waste has become a dangerous habit: we buy too much food in supermarkets, we let fruits and
vegetables spoil take out at home or we order dishes too rich at the restaurant.Every year about a third
of the food produced in the world is lost or wasted.A little habit at home can change a lot of things. How
limited is this food waste at home?

-Buy only what it takes -
Be rational when shopping. Make a list of what you need and stick to it. Buy only what you can use. You
can, for example, prepare menus for the week in advance and buy only what you need to make them.
For example my mother ask us to know what do we want to eat, she write the list and she goes to the
supermarket to buy that specific food.

-Use your leftovers-
Instead of throwing the leftovers in the trash they can be used for lunches the next day, go to the next
dinner or be frozen for another occasion.Invent new recipe. Fruits that become soft can be used to
make smoothies or fruit pies. The vegetables that start to fade can be turned into soups

-Understanding Dates -
"Best Before" indicates the safe use of a food by date, while "use by" indicates when the nutritional
quality of the product is optimal; However, it can be consumed safely after this date. An "expiration
date" is sometimes also indicated on food packaging to help manufacturers and retailers manage
their inventory.

It looks very simple but it can really help limit the waste of food. It's very easy to make a list, take out
reutilise these leftovers or even read a label. It’ can help you to saving money each month, helping to
save the planet, or feeding the poor. So use this without moderation.
