Ways to Prevent Food Waste by Fabiana Do you know that In the EU each year people wasted around 88 million tonnes of food with associated costs estimated at 143 billion euros?  And that a European or North American consumer wastes almost 100 kilograms of food annually, which is more than his or her weight (70 kilograms)? This is very bad for the world and for the environment because the food wasted in Europe alone could feed 200 million hungry people. We can stop food waste on the planet by doing these things at home: use leftovers, give food to the poor, and eat smaller portions.    First, we can reuse the leftovers like for example if you cook pasta and there is left over you can use them and do a macaroni omelette or something else. It is actually good because like this you don't waste food.     Next, instead of throwing away food you can give it to the poor. Many of the people that are poor have no food and are homeless. Poor people do not on...
Three ways of stopping food waste at your home How can we stop this food waste in our houses? What we can do to use that food and not throw it away? In what different ways we can use this food that we used other day? So it’s easy , you only need three ways to answer all this questions , and have all your minds clear. Most people when they finish to eat and a lot of food , they directly throw it away , but there is one way to fix this problem : Most people eat a little and make a lot of food , and when they finish they throw. One way is to put it in your fridge and conserve it, so you can put it to your family that night or for the next day in the lunch. Other people , when they have not too much food left after lunch the first thing they do is to get away of it. Maybe if it is a very small amount of food you can throw it away , but if it is not the case , the amount is bigger you can save it. May be fine the food two or three days more, but no more because the food...

3 effects of food waste There are many effects of food waste, which hurt planet, people or people’s wallet. One of these is for example the fact, that wasted food mostly goes to landfills, which produce the methane. Methane is a greenhouse gas and it is considered much more dangerous for our planet than for example carbon dioxide, which means that wasted food is one of the causes of gl obal warming. Another problem of food waste which is also very serious is that, the food which is wasted in well-developed countries, is missing in other parts of the world, where the food is needed. There is a study, which says that, if the amount of food which is wasted all around the world were reduced by twenty-five percent, there would be enough food to feed all the people from countries with high levels of food shortage and never-lasting hunger all around the world. In my opinion it is sad that some people are so selfish, and instead of sending the food, which they wouldn’t eat anyway to pe...

3 ways to stop food waste at my home Sadly, across the world, about one-third of all food produced for people gets wasted. There are almost one billion people who do not have enough food to survive and also food waste adds a  problem to global warming. But of course, there are some ways that I can reduce food waste and the easiest way is to stop food waste at my home. The first way is I should write a shopping list for just the extras I need, plan meals for a week, and shop smart. Before I go to a supermarket to buy something, I should check the ingredients in my fridge. Because it is one of a way of food waste if I buy something twice and throw the old one away. Another thing is I should not shop when I am hungry. Because since I am hungry, I would like to buy everything in the market and I come back home with more than I need. When I buy more than I need, first I spend my money for nothing and second I waste more food. So it is better if I buy fruits and vegetables inste...

FOOD WASTE Why do people want to waste food? Why do people want to waste food? Fewer people would be hungry, less gases would be released to the air because we would need less food. In poor countries, most food is wasted during production and distribution. Instead, in rich countries, consumers waste the most food. It goes without saying that some food is wasted along the chain. Greenhouse gas poluutes the planet more than even CO2. Food waste that ends up in landfills produces a large amount of methane. The greenhouse gases such as methane, CO2 and chlorofluorocarbons absorb infrared radiation and heat up the earth's atmosphere, causing global warming and climate change. As a first step, priority should be given to balancing production with demand. This essentially translates to lesser use of natural resources to produce food which is not needed. Harvesting, processing, and distributing processes If it is not enough, it ...

Food Waste   How much food is wasted (in euro) each year in Europe? You can do that and at the same time help the community by stopping food waste. You can stop food waste at your house by following three simple steps. It does not take much effort. Just do these three easy things:  First of all, the easiest thing you can do is check how much food you have in your fridge. Before you go to the grocery, you can check the quantity of food you have already. In this way you do not have the risk of buying something that you already have. Then if you already have it you will have the risk of not using it, and obviously it will get old and then you will through it away even though you didn’t even open it.  The second step, is to check the best by dates while you are at the grocery store. If you realise that you will not eat that product in those days or you are not sure, just don’t buy it. Otherwise, if you do buy it, buy it and then you do not use it, you will waste food,...

Food Waste Food waste has become a dangerous habit: we buy too much food in supermarkets, we let fruits and vegetables spoil take out at home or we order dishes too rich at the restaurant.Every year about a third of the food produced in the world is lost or wasted.A little habit at home can change a lot of things. How limited is this food waste at home? -Buy only what it takes - Be rational when shopping. Make a list of what you need and stick to it. Buy only what you can use. You can, for example, prepare menus for the week in advance and buy only what you need to make them. For example my mother ask us to know what do we want to eat, she write the list and she goes to the supermarket to buy that specific food. -Use your leftovers- Instead of throwing the leftovers in the trash they can be used for lunches the next day, go to the next dinner or be frozen for another occasion.Invent new recipe. Fruits that become soft can be used to make smoothies or fru...
